Our relationships are really only meaningful in direct proportion to the depth of our rapport with the Self within us.  If we don't have that rapport, then every other one of our relationships is in some way superficial.  This has everything to do with the nature of the love in our own hearts.  There is an old Indian saying that we see the world the way we are.  If this is so, then it is necessary to keep our attention in our own hearts, concentrate on feeling the love within ourselves, and be as authentic as we can with everybody else.
