Prison Yoga

Prisoner rehabilitation is a challenge worldwide regardless of sex, age, race, nationality and crime committed.  For many, prison is a brutal experience offering nothing more than a training ground for hardened criminal behavior.  

To cultivate a sense of "self worth,"  some prisons in China and India have mandated yoga practice.  Facilities in the U.S. are also beginning toexperiment with yoga, meditation and dance to gain self-control, self-respect and a sense of relationship to others.  

In the Philippines, the Cebu Provincial and Rehabilitation Center has become famous for its dancing inmates.  Enjoy this glimpse into a place where discipline, practice and teamwork are reinforced toward a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
